My Place and Yours

Hi everyone,

how are you all?  Believe it or not we have actually had some more rain!  With the Cyclone Watch further up the Queensland coast, it will no doubt be here for a while.  At least it is good rain, and not stormy causing problems for everyone.

Okay, enough babbling on....I have  learnt a little about meme lists on the blog recently (and still learning).  I viewed and left a comment on Vic's site Punky & Me   http://punkysmamma.blogspot.com/

This week, Gypsy from  http://thecraftgypsy.blogspot.com/ is the Theme Queen, and her theme choice is SHOES...........hence my picture.

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend,  but you have to start your outfit and your beautiful bub's education somewhere, so why not start with their shoes/boottees!   The funny thing is, I have actually been making boottees this week, not knowing what the theme will be.

I wonder who is going to fill Gypsy's shoes next week (ha ha)    Happy crafting, Jenny

Fabric Boottees

Depending on the baby, these boottees are for a Newborn to 6 month old.  I use a variety of fabrics/prints, so what colours are in stock at the time of your email enquiry may vary to what is in this picture.  In the mix of colours, I try to have some that could be either boy or girl, in case the baby hasn't arrived yet.

Fabric  Boottees
$6.95 a pair
(plus postage & packaging)

Thank you for dropping by,  Jenny

9th Birthday!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME,    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.......OR TO MY SHOP AT LEAST!    YES,    9  years!    I'm still trying to come to terms with it!!

Many people didn't think I would survive 6 months, but  I'm still there.  Jenny's Place (this was already taken for blogging purposes, hence the  Craft  in the blog title) started as a handmade gift shop and coffee shop rolled into one, with me doing the craftwork,  cheesecakes, sandwiches, slices, etc., and open 7 days a week on my own.   Once a month, a group of ladies would come for a form of High Tea, with sandwiches, cream treats, and a slice or two.  I would try to vary the choices each month.  In total, I would have anywhere between 20 - 30 ladies come.  I eventually had to draw a line at the bookings for these occasions......I ran out of chairs!  Thankfully, my mother would help out on these occasions when she could (and not just with recipes).

Many a night I would also be up 'til midnight, and up early the next morning, arriving at the shop by 5am.  Admittedly there have been some changes.  About 18months ago, I lost 1/4 of my shop space due to boundaries and circumstances out of my hands.   Knowing this was going to happen, I packed up the coffee side of things, and kept on with the craft.  One of my sisters (Sugar Pie Prims) and my mother also help with their style of craft, filling craft areas I can't get the time to explore.

I think I will be doing this for a while yet.  I'm not doing the amount of craft at home as I was in the past.  I have to do some form of craft, or have my nose is a book, otherwise I feel lost.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it),  Robyn (Sugar Pie Prims)  put me onto blogging.

Well, I think I wouldn't mind giving myself a birthday treat and get back to that book now......I'm reading Two for the Road, by Amanda Hampson.    Anyone else enjoying a book at the momment?

Enjoy your craft/book,  Jenny  (thank you to Vintage Moth  for the free graphics,  and to my mother for all of her help )

Hi everyone, how has your weekend been so far?

While visiting other blogs recently,   Keren (  http://www.freeprettythingsforyou.com/  )  and Pam's ( http://thestudiodownstairs.au.com/ ) sites, had a link/button for  http://shabbyblogsblog.blogspot.com/  !  This site has a number of hints and freebies for your blog.

I have become a follower of this site, and like  Megan, I have 3 Followers too.........yes I know Megan's is 3 thousand plus, but we all have to start somewhere (ha ha) !

I did learn to add things to my sidebar, so decided to use this avenue to explain comments to first time blog visitors.  I spoke to a friend a while back, and she found it quite daunting not knowing what to do.

Pam, I couldn't bring myself to delete your comment in 'that' blank square, as I would probably have also lost your comment as well, so you will find it lower down the page.

I hope everyone likes the changes.  Enjoy what is left of your weekend.  With everyone on cyclone watch up North  (Northern part of Queensland)  and fire alert down South (Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia),  who knows what the next few days will bring.    Bye for now,   Jenny

Phew!! what a few days it has been......our brother (I also have two sisters) was here for a few days from Kabul where he is working on a project building a power station.  It was great to catch up with him.

The main reason for his trip was to catch up with  our dad, who is in aged care due to vascular dementia.  Mum stays with me part of the week so as to visit dad.   Dad has been in aged care for 3 years next month which is quite amazing to reflect back on.  Naturally dad has good days and bad, but he still recognised Rodney.

I have had my head in the clouds today, which for me is quite high (ha ha).  I did a very quick check of my blog after Rodney left, and found two comments.  One of the comments was from Pam at The Studio Downstairs.  I am now a follower of her blog.  This is a great way to keep up on what's happening on blogs you like to visit.   You have to check out her doll Henry......he looks great!  Being in a seaside town, I always look for beachy things as well as country.

I'm not sure how to add a 'plug'  or do a swap, etc. onto sites, but as you can see, I have made some new additions.  I hope you get the chance to visit some of the blogs/sites I like to visit.

Remember I tried to do a link to the Australian Craft Directory?  Drum roll.....I am now listed!   Hip hip hooray!!

If that wasn't enough, I have now made it overseas......Keren from Free Pretty Things for You visited my page and left a comment.  Thank you Keren.  I'm still not familiar with swaps, but hopefully will learn in time.

I think I should start getting my feet back on the ground.  I have plenty of questions to solve about blogs, but keep coming up with new ones!  I hope you like the Scissors Case I added to my online shop tonight.

Happy sewing, Jenny

Scissors Case

Hi, I hope everyone has had a great day.  I have added my Scissors Case to my online shop today.  They are really handy to protect your scissors, and if necessary, hide them from the family!  The Case will hold two pair of scissors (one pocket in front of the other).

One lady even bought some for her dog grooming scissors.

Happy Sewing!

New Follower

Thanks Pam for taking the time to visit my blog.  My brother is visiting for a couple of days from overseas at the moment, so I have only had a quick look at yours.  I love the nesting cupboard.  I will definitely get back to your blog (The studio downstairs) in the next few days.   Jenny
Hi everyone,

as you can probably guess, I am trying to add another link to my blog in order to let people know I am here.  Apologies for taking up your time with this.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend, Jenny

Hi, everyone.   Christmas is over, and the New Year arrived, so you are no doubt wanting to put up your feet and enjoy a quiet cuppa.  Why not use a tea cosy so you can relax a little longer?

I had a lovely Christmas Day with family.  The weather was nice and sunny, and to top it off, we had continual showers of rain until only a couple of days ago.  My sister (Sugar Pie Prims) and her husband have a cane farm, so I only hope the amount of rain has been useful and not too much.

Can you believe it!!!!
Some of the supermarkets have Hot Cross Buns out on the shelves already!!!   Bye for now, Jenny
